Job Advertisement: Political Analyst
The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tirana is seeking a Political Analyst (full-time, temporary position with possibility of extension)
Tasks
- Monitor and analyze developments in the fields of politics, rule of law (judiciary, anti-corruption, public administration) and EU integration, identifying the relevance of domestic developments to the EU accession process and German foreign policy priorities.
- Produce regular and ad hoc summaries and analytical reports and provide briefings to Embassy colleagues.
- Liaise with experts, international and non-governmental organizations as well as public authorities and represent the Embassy at public events.
- Further support to the political section and other sections as needed.
Required Profile
- Undergraduate degree, preferably in political science, law or related subjects. Higher degrees are an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of Albanian politics, government and judicial institutions, the EU integration process, and the Rule of Law, including the fight against corruption and organized crime.
- Relevant experience working on the above issues, e.g. for international or non-government organizations, think tanks, public administration or media.
- Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent oral and written Albanian and English language skills. German language skills or the readiness to learn German are an asset.
- Proficiency in computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office, willingness to acquire further skills.
- Teamwork, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, occasionally outside normal working hours.
The Embassy offers
- A temporary full-time employment contract after successful completion of a probationary period starting latest during the month of July 2026. The standard working hours are 40 hours per week. The position is limited until March 2028, an extension is subject to the approval of the German Federal Foreign Office.
- A contract under local labor law with remuneration according to the Embassy’s pay scale.
- Supplementary health care for the employee including family.
- Thorough training in the new position during an induction period.
